On 20-07-09 a six metre female Whale shark swam into Marina Crescent in Kuwait. Initial attempts by various diving groups to guide the shark back to open water failed.
On 21-07-09 various Kuwaiti specialised organisations - Environmental Protection Authority Scientific Centre, Kuwait Diving Team, Voluntary Work Centre got together to plan a coordinated approach to ensuring the animal's safe return to the open sea.
Dareen Almojil, the SCS Gulf Area Representative, was instrumental in the planning process and contacted various international experts for advice.
The shark was successfully returned to open water on Monday 26th July. Well done to Dareen and all those involved.
