SCS Honorary Life Member Mike Rutzen was seriously injured in a motoring accident in Mozambique on Monday January 28th. Mike was on holiday with his girlfriend Elisabetta Castella who was driving and who tragically died in the accident. The Society sends its condolences to Mike and to Elizabetta's family. Mike was airlifted to hospital in Sandton, Johannesburg.

SCS chairman, Richard Peirce, is in South Africa and will personally convey the Society's concerns to Mike's family and our best wishes for a full recovery. Richard spoke to Mike's office in Gansbai and to a family member on the 1st February and it was confirmed that Mike is still in intensive care but is in a stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
